Simon Pagenaud capped a dream month of May by winning the 103rd Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday after a dramatic late-race duel with Alexander Rossi. Pagenaud earned his first career Indy 500 victory. He became the first pole winner to capture “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” since Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves in 2009. Frenchman Pagenaud also won the INDYCAR Grand Prix on May 11 to become the second consecutive driver to sweep the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, following Team Penske teammate Will Power last year. This is the 18th Indianapolis 500 victory for Team Penske, extending its record. Pagenaud passed Rossi in Turn 3 on Lap 199 to take the lead for good in his No. 22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet. He beat Rossi’s No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS Honda to the finish by .2086 of a second.
