NEWGARDEN GOES BACK-TO-BACK AT INDY IN THRILLER

Josef Newgarden joined the immortals Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by becoming just the sixth driver to win the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge in two consecutive years, edging Pato O’Ward in a scintillating race that included the start delayed four hours by a midday rainstorm.

Colton Herta was fastest in practice on Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a quick lap of 234.974 MPH. The session saw multiple trap speeds top 241 MPH and should make for an interesting qualifying weekend.
Pato O'Ward tops Thursday Speed Chart
Pato O'Ward put in a fast time of 39.3252 in another busy day of practice that saw a total of 1,896 laps completed.

DIXON TOPS 229 ON RAIN-SHORTENED OPENING DAY AT INDY
Short, but still speedy.
Persistent rain curtailed the opening day of practice May 14 for the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the 2.5-mile oval was open for just 23 minutes, until 9:26 a.m. ET. Showers intensified during the afternoon, preventing any more laps.
Indianapolis 500 Entry List
Preparations for the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge will start this week with a field consisting of eight former winners of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” and five NTT INDYCAR SERIES champions.
There are 34 entries set to contest the 33 starting spots for this year’s edition of the “500.” Practice is scheduled to start Tuesday, May 14, with PPG Presents Armed Forces Qualifying on May 18-19. All track activity on the historic 2.5-mile oval leads into Race Day, Sunday, May 26.
