2026 Green Flag Relay
Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge
2026 Green Flag Relay
The Green Flag is one of the most iconic symbols in all motorsports, and on May 24, 2026, the Official Green Flag will signal the start of the “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” – the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Before the Official Green Flag arrives at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Race Day, it tours the globe (and in some years, even outer space) to generate anticipation and excitement for Race Day.

STOP 2: A BUNDERFUL ST. PATRICK'S DAY
March 27, 2026
Harrisburg, PA, USA
The Hotdoggers with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile team made sure St. Patrick's Day had a little extra green this year. The same Hotdoggers who will be in fierce competition for year 2 of the Oscar Mayer Wienie 500 happening on Miller Lite Carb Day, Friday, May 22, 2026, made Stop 2 of the 2026 Green Flag Relay a sizzlin' one.
The Official Green Flag spent time with the Hotdoggers and amongst friends at the Harrisburg, PA St. Patrick's Day parade. Check out the Wienermobile's post below!
STOP 1: INDY 500 WINNER MEDIA TOUR IN NYC
May 27, 2025
New York City, New York, USA
Following his win in the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Palou jetted to New York City for a media tour. Standing atop the Empire State Building, Palou waved the Official Green Flag to mark Stop 1 of the Green Flag Relay for the following Indy 500. Palou's tour also included throwing out the first pitch at a New York Mets game, a segment on FOX's First Things First, a visit to Times Square and more.
While many Indy 500 winners have visited New York City, Palou made this trip his own, taking a moment to celebrate the Indiana Pacers epic playoff run by posing with Tyrese Haliburton's jersey in front of the NBA headquarters. Palou attended a playoff game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis the night of his Indy 500 win as well. This fast-paced NYC blitz was the perfect opening to this edition of the Green Flag Relay.
