Indy 500 Porch Parties

PORCH PARTY

Porch Parties are an incredibly popular part of the Indy 500 celebration and serve as a great example of the community spirit this city has for the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. In collaboration with the Harrison Center, race fans are encouraged to show what “This is May” means by hosting a fun racing-themed Porch Party that helps neighbors connect, build local communities and celebrate the spirit of the Indianapolis 500.  Show off your Hoosier pride and encourage your local neighborhood to embrace the energy of the Month of May!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Porch Party?

In essence, it’s what “This is May” is all about! In 2014, the Harrison Center began encouraging people to gather on their porches with friends and neighbors, to share food and drink, and to help cultivate a sense of community in our urban neighborhoods. Since that time, the popularity of "porching" has soared. In 2016, through a partnership with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Porch Party movement grew to include the entire state of Indiana, and hundreds have joined in the fun.

How does it work?

1. Pick a day to host your porch party.

2. Invite friends, family & neighbors.

3. Decorate to show off your Indy 500 pride.

4. Prepare food & drinks.

5. Listen - Get excited for this year’s race by jamming out to the artists who will be performing at IMS on Race Weekend

  • Miller Lite Carb Day Concert: Bryan Adams and Soul Asylum
  • Firestone Legends Day Concert: Brad Paisley, Russell Dickerson and Jackson Dean
  • Indy 500 Snake Pit presented by Coors Light: Kaskade, Subtronics, John Summit, DJ Diesel (AKA Shaquille O’Neal), and Jauz.
