Seasonal Opportunities
Opportunity Overviews
There are several opportunities for anyone interested in taking part in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing on a seasonal basis. Whether you are a passionate race fan who wants to get involved as a “Yellow Shirt”, a college student looking to gain experience and build your resume, or a member of a 501c3 organization looking to raise funds for your organization, we have opportunities for you! Please see below for more information about our three programs with links on how to get involved.
Safety Patrol
The IMS Safety Patrol, or “Yellow Shirts”, are responsible for Guest Experience during events at IMS. Our dedicated team works in eight different areas around the track. Examples of these areas include, but are not limited to, checking credentials, and managing traffic in the garage area, serving as ushers in the grandstands, and providing parking traffic direction.
Safety Patrol is a paid position and base pay is $12/hr. with some overtime opportunities.
Safety Patrol schedules vary depending on the event schedule. However, we work hard to accommodate the availability you will submit for each event. New members of Safety Patrol are encouraged to be available as much as possible, especially on our major event days, to maximize experience and earning potential.
If you are interested in being part of a dedicated group committed to putting on the greatest events in the world, Safety Patrol is for you.
College Program
The College Program offers two unique paid opportunities for rising college freshmen through recent graduates to gain valuable experience working in sports and entertainment.
To enhance the experience, the program also offers developmental programming and networking opportunities. Examples include leadership seminars with Penske Entertainment executives, exclusive events at the famous IMS Pagoda, and workshops on networking, interviewing, and succeeding in the events industry.
Depending on your school requirements, you may be eligible to receive school credit. Pay rates vary by position.
Non-Profit Fundraising
The Non-Profit Fundraising Program gives 501c3 organizations the opportunity to partner with The Indianapolis Motor Speedway to raise funds for their organization. Organizations can choose one of four areas at IMS to partner with and will receive a donation based on the number of members who attend.
Organizations can partner with either Guest Experience, Facilities, Concessions, or Merchandise. Responsibilities and donation amounts vary by area, and fundraising availability is focused mainly on the major event days during the Month of May and Brickyard Weekend.
