Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday, May 26 is the true kickoff to Race Weekend for the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. Check out this guide to the Greatest Party in Racing. Gates Open at 8 a.m. You can’t enjoy Carb Day all day if you don’t start when gates open. Grab your friends and head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Find your parking spot early throughout the many lots outside of IMS. If you don’t have an infield parking pass already, don’t even try to park inside the track. All parking within the infield is already sold. Instead, check out our Carb Day map showing available parking lots and pricing. Also be sure to check out our gate regulations for everything you can and cannot bring into the Speedway. Final Indy 500 Practice (11 a.m.-noon) This your last chance to see the 33 drivers that will compete in the Indianapolis 500 on track before Race Day. Bring your cooler (18”x14”x14” maximum), apply some sunscreen and kick back and watch the Greatest Drivers in Racing prepare for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Indy Lights Freedom 100 Race (12:30 p.m.) After watching Indy 500 practice, stay for the Indy Lights Freedom 100 race featuring future Indy 500 drivers. Each year these drivers deliver amazing races and the closest finishes you’ve ever seen. Last year we saw the closest finish ever on the IMS oval, with the margin of victory just .0024 of a second. What will happen this year?
IMS Midway While you’re walking around IMS, be sure to stop by the IMS Midway in the infield, which is packed with vendors, displays, activities and much more. The NERF NITRO Kids Zone is big fun for any young ones who join you at the track. TAG Heuer Indy 500 Pit Stop Challenge (1:45 p.m.) A fun Miller Lite Carb Day tradition is the annual TAG Heuer Indy 500 Pit Stop Challenge. This fan-favorite event pits two drivers and their teams against one-another for the best pit stop times. This bracket-style competition always delivers an exciting show for fans, giving them another way to see their favorite drivers compete at IMS. The final features a new, best-of-three format this year.
