Bike to the 500

Biking is one of the fastest ways to get to Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Race Day, Sunday, May 24.

The BODYARMOR Flash I.V. Bike to the 500 presented by Central Indiana Cycling returns for its 11th year, offering fans a fun and fast way to get to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 24.

The escorted, 5-mile Race Day ride starts at the AMP at 16 Tech. Uniformed officers and ride leaders are on hand to help guide participants of all ages. Riders can choose from two departure times, 7:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m., allowing the most loyal fans to arrive in time for prerace ceremonies. Bike to the 500 offers hassle-free monitored bike parking near the iconic Gate 1 entry of IMS.

“Bike to the 500 is a fun and unique way for our fans to travel to IMS on Race Day,” INDYCAR and IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “When you have more than 350,000 fans heading in the same direction for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’ biking is one of the fastest ways to get to the track, and it is a great way to enjoy the commute with fellow fans.”

Tickets to participate in Bike to the 500 are available starting Thursday, March 26. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of the event and can be purchased here. “Park Without Ride” tickets also are available for those wish to ride to the track on their own but want to utilize the monitored bike parking area. The first 500 Bike to the 500 registrants will receive a Bike to the 500 branded cooling towel. Bike to the 500 benefits Central Indiana Cycling, an organization with the mission to get more people cycling through advocacy, education and opportunities to ride.

Tickets to the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge are sold separately.

"Bike to the 500 has become another IMS Race Day tradition for many families,” Central Indiana Cycling Project Coordinator Tess Woods said. “It provides a safe and fun way for race fans to get to the Indianapolis 500, avoiding much of the traffic and congestion of Race Day. We encourage race fans to Bike to the 500, the fastest way to get to ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
