Kyle Busch Wins 2015 Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard

Kyle Busch scored one of the biggest wins of his career on Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, holding off Joey Logano in a green-white-checkered finish to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard.

Busch completed the first weekend sweep of NASCAR’s two events at IMS, having won the XFINITY Series’ Lilly Diabetes 250 on Saturday. After a burnout down the frontstretch on Saturday, he took a backwards victory lap on Sunday in his No. 18 Skittles Toyota.

“I tried to soak it in,” said Busch, who gave Joe Gibbs Racing its fourth win at the Brickyard. “Oh my gosh, I just can’t believe what’s going on. Our car was really, really good today. It’s really a treat to win here at Indy.”

The win was Busch’s 33rd in the Sprint Cup Series of his career, third in a row and fourth in his last five starts. He missed the first 11 Sprint Cup Series races of the season after sustaining a leg injury in the season-opening weekend at Daytona, but is now the hottest driver in the sport.

Kevin Harvick led the most laps (75) but finished third. In finishing second, Logano fell short in an attempt to give team owner Roger Penske his first Sprint Cup Series win at Indianapolis. Penske won the Indianapolis 500 in May with Juan Pablo Montoya.

In his last start at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Pittsboro, Indiana’s Jeff Gordon finished 42nd after an early crash. Ryan Newman (South Bend, Indiana) finished 11th and Tony Stewart (Columbus, Indiana) finished 28th.

Kyle Busch’s previous best finish at the Brickyard was second in both 2012 and 2014.  

The race was the second at the Brickyard with a green-white-checkered finish; Jeff Gordon won NASCAR’s first such finish in 2004.
