Pickleball at the Brickyard? Yes, please! Indianapolis Motor Speedway is partnering with Tyrol to bring pickleball courts to IMS during the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks! Bring your paddle to the Speedway or borrow one from Tyrol and have a unique pickleball experience you cannot get anywhere else! The weekend of play culminates with the “Old Oaken Paddle” tournament between IU and Purdue!
IMS gate admission for the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks is required for every day you enter the venue, even if you are attending just to play pickleball. You can register for pickleball ahead of time at the link below.
Pickleball FAQs
Three courts will be active 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20 for open play and hourly match-play sign-ups by level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). IMS gate admission required. Paddles available if needed.
There will be five pickleball courts at IMS during the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks. Four will be located in the Rule the Road Fan Midway, while one will be located in Pagoda Plaza, with the stunning backdrop of the famed IMS Pagoda.
Yes. Tyrol will have a beginner court, an intermediate court and an advanced court. On each court, you will play a single game to 11. If it hits 10-10, the next point wins. Take the win and you stay on to face the next challengers in the following slot that same day.
No, when you sign up, you will book one slot for your team of two.
Friday — Feature Court in Pagoda Plaza
1–2 p.m.: Basic Pickleball Skills with Kirk Maddock
2–3 p.m.: Hit with Indy Drivers NPL team — lineup TBD
3–3:30 p.m.: Fast Serve Contest — (speed gun on site)

2nd Place - Indy tickets
3rd Place - Tyrol swag
Saturday — Feature Court in Pagoda Plaza

1 – 3 p.m.: IU vs Purdue — afternoon session
Sunday will feature a pickleball match between IU and Purdue for the “Old Oaken Paddle” tournament. Final times will be posted soon and may adjust with race operations.
