Group/Ticket Sales Representative
Position Title: Group/Ticket Sales Representative
Department: Ticketing
Reports to: Manager, Ticket Sales
Position Location: Administration Building
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Seasonal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • With the Ticket Sales Manager, this position provides a vital role for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sales and Marketing activities. This position will be responsible for marketing and selling group tickets to the Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, Indianapolis 500, Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational, Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP.
  • Make up to 500 cold calls a week. Extensive phone work including incoming, outgoing and follow-up calls to new potential leads and former ticketing customers.
  • Reach sales goals via ticket sales to the following group sales market: businesses, civic organizations, sponsors, car & motorcycle clubs and fraternal organizations.
  • Compliance with proven phone presentations and group sales approach.
  • Participate in sales events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • As a key member of the Outbound Ticket Sales Team, the candidate must continually demonstrate teamwork, integrity, a GREAT attitude and tremendous work ethic.
  • The candidate must be very pro-active, professionally aggressive, organized, creative, innovative, open-minded and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in basic software programs (word processing, excel).
  • Must be creative, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work full-time hours from the months of December 2015 through August 2016.
  • Must be able to work overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Event Ticket Office Representative
Position Title: Event Ticket Office Representative
Department: Ticketing
Reports to: Manager, Ticket Operations
Position Location: Administration Building
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Seasonal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Event Ticket Office Representative position will provide support to the Ticket Office staff for all department activities for each major and supplemental IMS event.
  • This position will be responsible for providing all guests a positive first impression of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by offering superior, individualized guest service.
  • You will need to accurately operate the IMS computer ticketing system by selling and processing ticket/parking orders.
  • Customer’s questions and your response is key to providing excellent customer service – questions may vary from seat/parking availability to event schedules.
  • The candidate may be responsible for operating and maintaining individualized remote ticket locations during events.
  • Each person must have previous skills handling cash responsibly and accurately.
  • You may have other duties as assigned by the Ticket Staff.
Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Problem-solve by effectively communicating with guests to locate and deliver will-call/guest tickets.
  • Advanced computer skills.

Work Hours:

Hours will vary based on event schedule. Working hours will be provided prior to event weekend. Candidate must be able to work overtime and event weekends as needed from May through September. This is an event only position.

Professional Mascot
Position Title: Professional Mascot

Position Summary:

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway mascots represent the brand with a distinctive identity. Our mascots enhance the traditions and emotions of our audience through exaggeration, characterization and entertainment. They bring live, fun-filled excitement to not just our fans, but our future fans, the children. “Axel and Alley” are two current mascots that represent and inspire the IMS Kids Club.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform as “Axel,” “Alley,” or the new upcoming mascot at community appearances, IMS races, children’s birthday parties and other events
  • Create the personality of the character 
  • Act using exaggerated body motions and high level of emotions
  • Must positively interact with children
  • Treat the suits with the utmost care  
  • Hired employees must be interested in cultivating business, by genuinely wanting to be involved in expanding the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Mascot Program

Seasonal – Groundskeeper
Position Title: Seasonal – Groundskeeper
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Supervisor, Facilities
Position Location: North Maintenance Facility
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Seasonal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • With the Supervisor, provides support for Facilities Department.  
  • Maintains grounds and property of IMS.
  • Cuts lawns.
  • Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, walls, and mulch.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
  • Rakes and bags or burns leaves.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Waters lawn and shrubs.
  • Repairs fences around flowerbeds when necessary.
  • Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts when needed.
  • Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
  • Putting in and taking out landscape beds.
  • Assist golf course crew and facilities maintenance crew when necessary.
  • Assists with outdoor clean-up staff during and after events.

Seasonal-Laborer
Position Title: Seasonal-Laborer

Position Location: North Maintenance Facility

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • With the Supervisor, provides support for Facilities Department.  
  • Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
  • Delivers parts, stock, equipment, furniture, etc. to designated work areas.
  • Cleans around work areas.
  • Cleans sidewalks, parking lots, removes litter.
  • Occasionally cuts grass and mops floors.
  • Separates and maintains recyclables.
  • Drives or assists with Packer (trash truck) and operates forklift.
  • Performs numerous general labor functions as needed.
  • Supports individuals in Facilities, Administration and Operations, the INDYCAR, management and support staff as appropriate to encourage harmony of priorities, policies, focus and results.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the company and the Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED, or equivalent experience.

Safety Patrol
Position Title: Safety Patrol
Department: Guest Experience

Available Opportunities:
  • Stands and Mounds: Provide hospitality and customer service to guest while verifying tickets.

Available Opportunities:
  • Suites/Hospitality: IMS Guest Experience Ambassadors are responsible for the control and operations of VIP and client areas at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Responsibilities include checking and stubbing suite tickets for high paying clients, operating elevators in high profile areas, and verifying credentials at suite and hospitality areas.
