Fans can enjoy another prime spot to see exciting racing this season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as a new spectator mound will provide outstanding views of Turn 4 of the oval and Turns 1 through 5 of the road course.
The newest mound will be inside Turn 4 of the IMS oval, constructed of approximately 4,000 cubic yards of dirt and covered with grass. It is one of eight spectator mounds available inside the massive IMS infield.
Construction will be completed in time for the Month of May at IMS, featuring the fourth annual INDYCAR Grand Prix on May 12-13 on the 2.439-mile road course and the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on Sunday, May 28 on the 2.5-mile oval.
“Spectator mounds offer great views of fantastic racing on the oval and road course,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “Our fans with General Admission tickets really enjoy finding their perfect spot, laying a blanket on the grass and soaking in all the action in a picnic-like setting with their family and friends.”
Significant improvements were made to IMS during the Project 100 program leading into the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 last May, and fan enhancements continue before the exciting schedule of events this year.
Visit www.IMS.com to purchase tickets for the fourth annual INDYCAR Grand Prix on May 12-13 and the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 28, and for more information on the entire Month of May schedule at IMS.
