  • Wear a mask or face covering at all times
  • IMS will have complimentary masks available for guest entering the venue. Masks or face coverings will be required throughout the facility for all guests over the age of 4.

  • Be patient and adhere to physical distancing requirements at gates, restrooms, concession and merchandise stands, and elsewhere throughout the venue.

Limited Venue Capacity

Up to 40 percent of venue capacity will be permitted, totaling approximately 135,000 fans. Spectator viewing mounds will be closed to the general public with no Race Day General Admission tickets sold.

Infield

Infield

Fans are able to use tunnels 6 and 7 to visit the infield, including Pagoda Plaza (the infield cannot be accessed through tunnel 2 or 10 this May). Please note spectator viewing mounds and the Midway, including the Kids Zone, will not be open this May.

Bronze Badge

Bronze Badge

Bronze badge holders will have access to the garage area during public event hours. Holders will be required to show proof of vaccination in Pagoda Plaza each day to receive their wristband to enter the garage area.

Museum

Museum

Free IMS Museum shuttles will run during IMS gate hours between the IMS Museum and the entrance to Pagoda Plaza in the Speedway's infield. The Pagoda Plaza pick-up location will be marked with signage. IMS Museum visitors must possess an event ticket or credential to enter the Museum. Gate 2 will not be open for parking or access to the Museum. Visitors should park in open IMS parking lots and use shuttles to access the Museum.

Parking for the Month of May is available in a variety of locations outside the track. There is no general spectator parking allowed in the infield. Paid public parking is available in various locations, and free parking is available in Lot 7 (North 40). Motorcycle parking has been relocated to Lot 2. Paid ADA parking is located in Lot 3P and Lot 2.

Concessions and Merchandise

Concessions and Merchandise

All IMS concession stands and merchandise locations are cashless this year. Tap-to-pay phone payments will be accepted, as will credit and debit transactions. Cash-to-Card machines, which convert paper money onto a temporary debit card, will be located throughout the facility.

These funds can be spent inside the venue, outside the venue, online or anywhere in the world where Mastercard/Visa debit cards are accepted. Parking and gate locations will take cash. Distancing will be enforced in queues.

Cleaning and Sanitation

The venue will be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected regularly, with frequent cleaning of high-traffic areas and surfaces throughout the day.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccinations for IMS spectators will be available at first aid stations located inside Gates 1 and 6. Vaccinations are also available at Gate 9 on weekends only. IMS encourages fans who have not yet been vaccinated to take advantage of this opportunity.

Fans and stakeholders will receive frequent advance communications outlining policies/procedures and on-site signage and PA announcements will reinforce health and safety messaging throughout the event.

Fans attending the GMR Grand Prix and any other days at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May are encouraged to Plan Ahead before visiting the racetrack. Frequently Asked Questions

Will the GMR Grand Prix take place on Saturday, May 15?

Yes, IMS plans to host the GMR Grand Prix on its traditional weekend opening the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

When will I receive my GMR Grand Prix tickets?

Customers will receive their GMR Grand Prix tickets soon. Month of May customers will receive an email notification once their 2021 tickets have been mailed.

I am an existing ticketholder. Will I receive all of my tickets for the GMR Grand Prix?

IMS expects to be able to accommodate the majority of your original ticket quantity in, or near, your current seating. Please log in to your IMS account for further details.

Are additional tickets available for the GMR Grand Prix?

Yes, tickets for all other on-track days remain available. The same health precautions for gate entry and grandstand access will be in place.

What if I decide not to attend and would like a credit?

Ticket holders still have the option to roll their 2021 purchase into 2022, receiving an IMS account credit rather than attending this years race. You must log in to your IMS account or contact the IMS ticket office by Friday, April 23 at 8 p.m. (ET) to make your IMS account credit request.

What health and safety precautions will be in place throughout the Month of May at IMS?

The plan for the Sunday, May 30 race was developed in close consultation with state and local health officials and has been approved by the Marion County Public Health Department. This plan includes the following protocols:

  • Face coverings will be required and enforced throughout the venue.
  • Temperature checks will be administered upon public gate entry.
  • There will be spacing between customer groups in the grandstands. In addition, spacing will be enforced throughout the venue, including concession areas, customer quest, etc.
  • Spectator viewing mounds will be closed to the general public with no Race Day General Admission tickets sold.
  • Increased cleaning and sanitation processes will be in place, with hand sanitizer and washing stations readily available.

If I am fully vaccinated, will I have to wear a face covering?

Yes. Protocols from the Marion County Public Health Department requires that all attendees follow the safety precautions outlined above regardless of vaccination status.

Will fans be allowed at the GMR Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500 Practice and Qualifications?

Yes, tickets for all other on track days remain available. The same health precautions will be in place for all days IMS is open to the public during the Month of May. GMR Grand Prix Race Day tickets can be reserved now via an application on IMS.com.

Will IMS host concerts and the Pit Stop Challenge in the Month of May?

With no GA access to the infield during the Month of May, the Friday, May 28 Miller Lite Carb Day concert and Pit Stop Challenge, the Saturday, May 29 Legends Day concert and the Sunday, May 30 Snake Pit concert have all been canceled. Ticket holders can receive an IMS account credit for their purchases through their online IMS account or by contacting the ticket office.

Though the concerts are cancelled, will I still be able attend on Miller Lite Carb Day and Legends Day presented by Firestone?

Fans can still attend Miller Lite Carb Day, which will feature the final practice session for the Indianapolis 500. IMS will not be open to the public on Legends Day presented by Firestone. The IMS Museum is open to guests on Legends Day.

Does the IMS account credit include all fees associated with my order?

All fees will be credited to your IMS account if you elect to roll your order to a future year.

Will camping be permitted?

Camping will still be offered for fans.

Will I be able to get my Bronze or Silver Badge and use it?

Yes. Please note that those with Bronze or Silver Badges must show proof of vaccination – at least one shot administered two weeks in advance -- at the time of check-in.

If you have paid for a badge and wish to opt out for this year, you may do so by logging on to your IMS account or by calling 317-492-6500. Credentials for minors will not be utilized this year, and all purchases will be credited to accounts.

As a reminder, Bronze and Silver Badges are valid for gate admission and garage access May 14, May 18-23 and May 28. All individuals must be 18 years of age.

Due to time constraints and mailing delays, each individual must come to the IMS Credentials Office in May to pick up their badge. A valid photo ID and a vaccination card must be presented by each individual.

Will driver autograph sessions take place this May?

No, driver autograph sessions will not be held.

Will I be allowed to park inside IMS?

No infield public parking will be allowed in May. Customers with previously purchased infield parking passes should check their online IMS account for a replacement option. Fans can select the replacement location or take an IMS account credit for a future event. All fans with 2021 infield parking can renew their pass for 2022.

I did not purchase my tickets through IMS.com or the IMS Ticket Office. What do I do?

You should contact the individual or third-party site/vendor from whom you purchased your ticket(s) for information on credit options. IMS cannot provide credits for items not purchased directly through the IMS Ticket Office or IMS.com website.

Can I bring my cooler to the track?

There is no plan to restrict fans from bringing coolers other than the traditional limitations on size (14” x 14” x 18”) and prohibited items. View full gate regulations here.

When will 2022 May reorders begin?

2022 reorders will open after the 2021 event(s) on Sunday, May 30 and extend through Monday, June 21, 2021. Your decision to attend/adjust your 2021 order will NOT affect your 2022 reorder eligibility. Your current products will be eligible for renewals/upgrades. Fans will be notified via email once the 2022 reorder window is officially open.

Fans can find this frictionless store as they enter gate #1 of the racetrack. Access is granted by downloading the store app and scanning a unique QR code at the entrance.
