Support Local, Celebrate #BackyardBrickyard All Week Long in Speedway

As the Indianapolis Motor Speedway gears up for a weekend of racing live on NBC July 4-5, IMS is partnering with the Speedway Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Speedway for several initiatives that encourage race fans to support local businesses and celebrate #BackyardBrickyard as they watch the GMR Grand Prix and Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard on Saturday, July 4 and the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 Powered by Big Machine Records Sunday, July 5.
#BackyardBrickyard Cocktail Contest
IMS and Big Machine Vodka are teaming up with the Speedway Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Speedway to find the Official Cocktail of #BackyardBrickyard through local restaurants located in Speedway, Indiana.
Recipes must include Big Machine Platinum Filtered Premium Vodka or a restaurant’s own vodka. Along with being named the Official Cocktail of #BackyardBrickyard, the winning recipe will be featured on the Speedway Chamber of Commerce’s social media sites as part of the #SupportSpeedway campaign. The winning restaurant will also receive a commemorative sign and prize pack.
Cocktails will be judged during a live tasting on Thursday, July 2. The winning drink will be announced Friday, July 3, just in time for fans to race to the winning local restaurant and make the new drink a centerpiece of their #BackyardBrickyard weekend as they watch the historic NASCAR-INDYCAR tripleheader weekend live on NBC.
Sidewalk Chalk Art Exhibit
The Speedway Arts Council and IMS are partnering with members of the community for a #BackyardBrickyard Sidewalk Chalk Art Exhibit. Speedway residents and local artists are encouraged to decorate the streets they live on, while local professional artists will have designated sports on Main Street to design.
Those participating in the fun are encouraged to follow one of the following themes:
4th of July: Show your love for America in a creative way, or what you love about the holiday
Crossroads of America: Celebrating Diversity in Speedway - Speedway is known for racing, but it is also one of the most diverse communities in Midwest, which makes our small town even greater.
Speedway Town Pride: Show your love for Speedway, or maybe a favorite memory you have in our town!

Speedway Bicycle Parade
IMS and Susan Decker Media will celebrate the Fourth of July with a special kid-friendly bicycle parade from 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to celebrate the patriotic holiday as a part of the Speedway’s #BackyardBrickyard weekend festivities.
The parade route follows the bicycle path that starts at Community Health Pavilion and ends at Fundae’s Ice Cream and Sweets. Participants are encouraged to outfit their bikes with patriotic colors and décor.
