TAG Heuer solidified itself as the premier watch brand in the world of motor racing by renewing their contract as the Official Timekeeper of the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500 race for the next three years.
“Motor racing is at the very core of TAG Heuer’s DNA,” said Kilian Muller, President and CEO of TAG Heuer North America. “It is vital that the brand continues its legacy of supporting the sport and what better way than partnering with the Verizon IndyCar Series, one of the most innovative and beloved open-wheel racing leagues,” he added.
Yesterday, TAG Heuer kicked off the INDYCAR season at their boutique at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, Florida. Alexander Rossi, Brand Ambassador and 2016 Indianapolis 500 Champion, met with guests and posed for photos alongside the Borg-Warner trophy, the prestigious award embossed with the winner’s image. Rossi will also be competing in the series opening race in St. Petersburg this Sunday, March 11th.
Alexander Rossi commented, “I am honored to have the opportunity to work closely with a brand that invests so much in a sport that I both love, and have also chosen to pursue as a career. Being a part of the TAG Heuer family has been the most natural fit and I am humbled by the support.”
In honor of the Verizon IndyCar Series, TAG Heuer will release two limited edition Indy 500 timepiece, a Carrera Heuer 01 and a Formula One. Both watches are designed to honor the 102nd race as well as TAG Heuer’s history as a luxury sport brand, melding automotive technology with Swiss watchmaking mastery of creating high performance watches. Each piece of the 500 Formula One Indy 500 Limited Edition and the 102 Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 Indy 500 Limited Edition features the Indy 500 logo and notes the limited edition number engraved on the case back.
To truly celebrate the beginning of Verizon IndyCar Series season, TAG Heuer is launching a flash sale Sunday at 10:00am EST on tagheuer.com. The first five people to purchase the new Heuer 01 Indy 500 Limited Edition will receive a full day experience at the 2018 Indianapolis 500 for two people. The package includes two tickets in the TAG Heuer suite and additional weekend perks.
Motor racing takes true endurance, fearlessness and dedication, ultimately embodying the #DontCrackUnderPressure mindset. Competitors must withstand speeds in excess of 200 mph, experience pressures of up to five times their own body weight and persevere through extreme heat while maneuvering themselves and their vehicles as quickly and meticulously as possible. As true athletes, race car drivers require a watch of similar strength and precision found rooted in the TAG Heuer brand.
TAG Heuer has a long standing relationship with the sport of motor racing. Current partnerships include the Official Partner of the Aston Martin Racing Team and Founding Partner of the FIA Formula E Championship. Other prestigious associations bearing the title of Official Timekeeper include: the legendary Carrera Panamericana and Pikes Peak in the USA; the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), the Monaco F1 Grand Prix, the Macau Grand Prix, the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and motorcycle racing in the Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC).
