This past Sunday, thousands of us basked in the glow of the Super Bowl sun, thankful for the 50 degree weather at the beginning of February. A few days later, I find myself looking out of my office window at the outside of Turn 1 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There is frost on the trees and stands. Welcome to Indiana.
Indiana Weather

If you've visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway I'm sure you can relate. You've probably experienced everything from sweltering heat, tornado warnings, falling frogs, torrential downpours, rainbows, uncharacteristically cold weather, big gusts of wind and even snowflakes.
There is a slightly annoying and overused saying in these parts. It goes something like – “If you don’t like the weather in Indiana, just wait a few minutes.” As a staff member at IMS, I’ve shared ‘that look’ with colleagues when it starts raining during May or at our other events. It wouldn’t be May without some rain or weather oddity.

In each case, everyone has to scramble to make things happen. As Lupe Fiasco said “The Show Goes On.”
We have the images to prove that the weather at The Brickyard tends to provide some bizarre situations. Browse through the gallery to find everything from canoes, to floods, to snow and even some sunshine.
We’re already into the 2012 race season. The Rolex 24 at Daytona experienced flawless weather. Next up is the Daytona 500, followed by the F1 opener in Melbourne and the IndyCar Series kick off in St. Pete. Who knows what the weather will do to affect these races and all the other Series around the world? It will somehow, it always does.
The Indianapolis 500 is just over 100 days away. I’m excited, our entire company is ramping up and I know our fans are counting down the days. As I glance out of my window, the sun is out and there is snow falling.
Is this February or May?
The show must go on.
