Race Day Checklist: INDYCAR Grand Prix

The Month of May is here and so is the first Race Day of the year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As fans descend upon IMS for the INDYCAR Grand Prix on Saturday, May 12, we want to ensure they receive the full experience of opening weekend at the Brickyard. Below we have listed the can’t-miss events and activities offered at the INDYCAR Grand Prix.

Fan Midway

Check out the upgraded IMS Fan Midway located in the infield. The Midway is full of fun new activities and attractions, including karting with Speedway Indoor Karting, racing simulators, virtual reality displays, a U.S. Air Force performance lab, the IMS Kids Zone and much more. Road to Indy

Watch the future of IndyCar racing as the Mazda Road to Indy drivers take on the IMS road course. Drivers from USF2000, Pro Mazda and Indy Lights series attempt to prove themselves as the next star of the Verizon IndyCar Series. Racing starts at 9:15 a.m. with USF2000, 10:10 a.m. with Pro Mazda and 1:15 p.m. with Indy Lights.

Tickets to the INDYCAR Grand Prix grant access to all viewing mounds located throughout the IMS infield, providing a different range of views and experiences all day long. Complete your INDYCAR Grand Prix experience by checking out the different locations around the Speedway. 

Bronze Badge Grid Walk

Have a Bronze Badge for the Month of May? If so, you can enjoy an exclusive experience before the start of the INDYCAR Grand Prix. Walk the grid and experience the pre-race festivities before the drivers of the Verizon IndyCar Series take the green flag.

INDYCAR Grand Prix

The Verizon IndyCar Series takes on the IMS road course for the fifth time with the INDYCAR Grand Prix. The green flag is set for 3:50 p.m., so be sure you’re in your seat or favorite spot on the spectator mounds to experience opening weekend at IMS. 

Victory View

Returning for 2018, fans can get a close-up look of the victory podium celebrations with Victory View. Access to Victory View is first-come, first-served so head toward Victory Circle before the end of the race and save your spot.

Post-Race Track Invasion

After the checkered flag flies over the INDYCAR Grand Prix, enjoy a unique opportunity to walk on the track. You can stroll along the straightaway, snap pictures on the Yard of Bricks and take part in the victory celebration. Bring the crew to experience the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a whole new way.
