Red Bull will bring the world of extreme sports to the first-ever Red Bull Air Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Oct. 1-2. Top Red Bull athletes in disciplines such as slacklining, BMX and Moto Trials will complete action-packed demos during both days of racing. "I'm looking forward to seeing some of the biggest stars in extreme sports perform at IMS during Red Bull Air Race Weekend," IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. "You won't find me slacklining or doing a backflip on a trial bike anytime soon, but I'm excited to see some real pros in action at IMS in just a few short weeks." Red Bull athletes performing demos on both Saturday and Sunday include: Aaron Colton: A Red Bull KTM action sport athlete with more than eight years of professional riding experience, Colton has gained a broad respect throughout all disciplines of motorcycling, competing in Street Freestyle, AMA Pro Road Racing and AMA Pro Flat Track, as well as a handful of WORCS, supermoto and motocross races. His demo program spans across the United States with 25-plus activations and an additional two to three activation tours outside the continental U.S. each year. He is the youngest XDL National Stunt Riding Champion and one of the most recognized Street Freestyle riders in the world. Alex Mason: Imagine doing backflips and 360s on a two-inch-wide strap hovering several feet above the ground and you'll have the picture of what Mason does for fun. He's one of the best young athletes the rapidly growing sport of slacklining has ever seen. The young American has taken the competitive slacklining world by storm, winning competitions against proven veterans and even appearing on the Conan O'Brien Show. Kenny Belaey: Also known as "the Magician," BMX superstar Belaey has put together an awesome list of achievements on a trial bike: two Cadet World Championships, two Junior World Championships, a Junior European Championship, multiple Elite World Championships, numerous Elite World Cup wins, and several Elite European Championship titles. Global audiences have become familiar with Kenny through the Extreme Sports Channel's "Kenny Belaey's Bigtime Trials Adventure," and an Adidas commercial alongside Lionel Messi and David Beckham. Thomas Oehler: This BMX legend is six-time Austrian Champion and a winner or European and world champion titles as well. Known for pushing limits, he set a new Guinness World Record in 2008 with a bike high jump of 3 meters. Geoff Aaron: One of the biggest names in Moto Trials, Aaron has won multiple AMA National Trials Championships. Aaron has been a member of the American Trials des Nations team multiple times. He was named AMA amateur athlete of the year in 2000. That same year (and again in 2006) he was named AMA Sports Athlete of the Year. He now focuses more on promoting his sport, travelling the country in his custom-made mobile demo rig to share his insane gift of trials. Geoff maintains his razor-sharp competitive edge as a regular at the X Games, where he's a legit medal contender in Endurocross. Athletes will perform in the IMS Fan Midway located behind the Northwest Vista. Demos will take place during breaks in Red Bull Air Race action. Gates open at 10 a.m. on both Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2. For more information, visit: www.ims.com/airrace.
