500 Festival

The 500 Festival works with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on several youth educational programs that teach kids about the importance of health & nutrition, education, safety and the STEM field as it relates to INDYCAR. Each year, many schools take part in the 500 Festival and Indianapolis 500 Education Program through Mobile Trips, which are conducted at their school, or a Study Trip to the Speedway at no cost to the schools. During these visits, students are taught through interactive, hands-on lessons.

Humane Society of Indianapolis

Former Hulman & Company and IMS Chairman of the Board Emeritus Mari Hulman George was extremely passionate about animal care. Her passion helped inspire IMS’ partnership with The Humane Society of Indianapolis. Each year, IMS hosts “The Greatest Spectacle in Dog Walking,” the IndyHumane Mutt Strut. Supporters from across the state gather at IMS to walk the historic 2.5-mile racetrack with their pups and enjoy music, vendors, food and activities all while raising money for the Humane Society of Indianapolis.

Riley Hospital for Children

One of the top pediatric research hospitals in the nation is right in our backyard and has a strong footprint at IMS. Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and the Riley Children’s Foundation work tirelessly to provide world-class pediatric care to children in need. Each May, IMS hosts the Indy 500 Party in the Child Life Zone at Riley Hospital, where several drivers entered in the Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge spend the evening visiting with children.

The Riley Children’s Foundation is well represented at the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard NASCAR weekend, too. Riley Kids have been given unique experiences at the Speedway, including visiting the winning driver in Victory Lane and giving the “Drivers, To Your Cars” command for the Pennzoil NASCAR Xfinity Series race.

The Riley Children’s Foundation also has a permanent presence at the Racing Capital of the World with the Riley Children’s Foundation Turn 2 Suites. The building sits just outside the racetrack and is painted in the Riley Children’s Foundation colors. It hosts many Riley Kids and families during race weekends. The Riley Children’s Foundation Turn 2 Suites receive national television exposure due to its unique location next to the racetrack, which helps elevate the nationally recognized children’s hospital based in Indianapolis.

The Riley Children’s Foundation also serves as the philanthropic partner of Lights at the Brickyard presented by Fifth Third Bank. This partnership during the holiday season event includes several opportunities for guests to support Riley, as well as a holiday light display that features the organization’s iconic red wagon.
