INDYCAR Harvest GP presented by GMR Plan Ahead Guide

This October, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will welcome race fans back to the Racing Capital of the World for the INDYCAR Harvest GP doubleheader presented by GMR and the Indianapolis 8 Hour Oct. 1-4.

Below you will find an outline of all the key measures IMS is taking at this year’s events to protect fans, participants, workforce and the broader community. These measures and the associated event plan have been developed in consultation with health experts and city/state officials.

These measures will make a big difference, but ultimately our success will depend on each individual community member showing respect for one another and making smart, safe and healthy decisions.

  • Use provided masks and hand sanitizer.
  • Adhere to spacing designations at ingress and in grandstands, restrooms, concession stands and retail locations.

  • Maintain physical distance between yourself and others.

  • Plan your route - know where you’re parking, where you're entering the venue and where you’re sitting in advance.
  • Be patient and adhere to physical distancing requirements at gates, restrooms, concession and merchandise stands, and elsewhere throughout the venue.

What You Need to Know

Venue Capacity

Limited Venue Capacity

Per the Marion County Department of Public Health, attendance will be limited to no more than 10,000 fans in grandstands per day to enable physical distancing and minimize congestion.

Entry Screening

Entry Screening

All individuals will be temperature-screened prior to entry with a contactless thermometer, and those with a fever or experiencing COVID-like symptoms will not be allowed to enter the venue.

Face Covering Requirements

Face Coverings

IMS will provide all individuals entering the venue with a complimentary mask. Masks or face coverings will be required throughout the facility for all guests over the age of 4.


PPE Provision

Hand Hygiene

IMS will provide all individuals entering the venue with a complimentary individual hand sanitizer. Fans will be encouraged to regularly wash or sanitize their hands.

Physical Distancing

Physical Distancing

Fans must follow the seating arrangement designated by IMS, which has been created to allow for physical distancing. Distancing will also be enforced throughout the venue.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Cleaning and Sanitation

The venue will be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected regularly, with frequent cleaning of high-traffic areas and surfaces throughout the day.


Enhanced Access Restrictions

Guests will be required to enter through a designated gate and will not be granted access to garages, pits and other operational areas.

Concessions and Merchandise

Concessions and Merchandise

There will be no indoor locations. Distancing will be enforced in queues, and touchless transactions will be encouraged whenever possible.

Communication and Signage

Communication and Signage

Fans and stakeholders will receive frequent advance communications outlining policies/procedures, encouraging thoughtful planning and advising those who are sick or at risk to stay home. On-site signage and PA announcements will reinforce health and safety messaging throughout the event.

Important Gate Entry Information

  • Ticketholders can only enter Gate 9 (North Zone) if you purchased a NW Vista or J Stand reserved seat, OR the North Zone General Admission ticket.
  • Ticketholders can only enter Gate 1 (South Zone) if you purchased an E Stand, E Penthouse or B Penthouse reserved seat, OR the South Zone General Admission ticket.
