Renauld
Historic Renauld Brand Offering Indy 500-Themed Sunglasses

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Renauld are partnering to offer race fans a unique opportunity to own a rare piece of the Racing Capital of the World with a fashionable twist.

Much like the 112-year-old racetrack, Renauld is a sunglass brand rich in history and innovation. Renauld was a leader in the sunglass industry in the 1960s and 70s, creating products and memories that resonated with the culture and spirit of the times.

After a 40-year hiatus, the Renauld brand returned to the world of high fashion in 2019. In 2022, the two iconic brands are reinvigorating the modern spirit with multiple limited edition lines of its storied Sixty One racing sunglasses.

The most exciting line being offered by Renauld is the Sixty One Finish Line, which integrates brick dust from the historic Yard of Bricks into the lenses of these gold-framed sunglasses.

In what is believed to be an industry first, this radical Renauld precision lens engineering seamlessly integrates a wafer-thin, transparent and vacuum-sealed compartment into the aerodynamic shape of the lens featuring a 24-carat gold plate.

This compartment featuring pieces of the racetrack that were first laid in 1909 encapsulates more than a century of Indianapolis 500 racing legacy and hallowed ground crossed by the likes of A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Rick Mears and Helio Castroneves, to name a few.

These sunglasses, as with all Renauld models, are hand-built in Italy and will come with a signed certificate of authenticity and an exclusive IMS commemorative leather case and care cloth. Just 100 sunglasses will be produced, which are available for pre-order now at Renauld.co.uk at the retail price of $895. Expected delivery date is between March and May.

Additionally, Renauld is offering race fans the chance to own a more accessible line of Indy 500 sunglasses with a more contemporary look. The Sixty One Racer line features the same distinct frame, minus the brick dust, but this time in chromium plates.

Like the Finish Line sunglasses, the Racer line will arrive with a certificate of authenticity from Renauld and an exclusive Indy 500 commemorative leather case and lens care cloth. Just 500 of these sunglasses will be produced in 2022 with a retail price of $395. They can be pre-ordered at Renauld.co.uk and are expected to be delivered between March-May.

The beautiful and sleek line of sunglasses are perfect for race fans wanting that fast and stylish look. It’s a look that 1965 Indianapolis 500 winner Jim Clark preferred as an avid Renauld fan throughout his racing career.

But Renauld isn’t just a household name in motorsports. Cultural icons such as Elvis Presley, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Mick Jagger and more all wore Renauld sunglasses. Additionally, the Renauld brand is synonymous with the cult film “The Italian Job.”

With both lines of sunglasses expected to be delivered by May, these are both must-have lines of sunglasses for NTT INDYCAR SERIES fans. These will help fans gear up for the 106th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 29, when more than 300,000 race fans come Back Home Again for what could be one of the most historic races in its 105-year history as Helio Castroneves looks to become the only five time winner of the Indianapolis 500.
