The Indianapolis Motor Speedway College Experience is an event execution program where students are placed on a team and will be an extension of their assigned division. Students work in a variety of operational and premium services event roles designed to enhance the experience of thousands of venue guests.

Learn the ins and outs of the Racing Capitol of the World – and the World’s Largest Single-Day Sporting Event, the Indy 500 – as well as the Brickyard 200. You’ll get the chance to meet and serve thousands of race fans from around the world and help make Hoosier hospitality come to life in an atmosphere and at a facility unlike any other.

Roles & Positions
Hospitality & Premium Services

Candidates hired on this team will serve as an extension of the Premium and VIP Services teams and will be stationed in various premium spaces around the facility to help provide guests with an extraordinary experience. Employees will assist with maintaining premium spaces, while also building relationships with guests. Main responsibilities will include checking for proper tickets and credentials, directing guests to various areas of the facility, answering questions, and enhancing overall experience.

Operations & Guest Experience

These roles are focused on facility operations like gates, traffic/parking, ticket selling and credential checking. These positions are crucial to each event’s success and allow the 988-acre venue to operate high-caliber. These roles also serve to improve the overall guest experience: whether these guests are die-hard race fans, families, or VIP visitors.

You will have the chance to choose to be placed in one of the following divisions:

  • Gates: Welcome guests through exterior facility gates, sell tickets to guests, manage ticket scanning and direction of pedestrian traffic around the outside of the venue. 
  • Traffic: Direct vehicular traffic, park cars, and assist with wayfinding inside the gates.
  • Garage & Pits: Perform credential checks around restricted areas and provide wayfinding assistance to guests. Previous experience required.
  • Outside Lots: Sell parking and park cars in exterior lots around IMS.
  • Suites: Check credentials and provide customer service to guests in premium areas.
  • Transportation: Provide for guests and employee transportation needs in vans, golf carts, and trams.
