  • Yes, I too would appreciate new releases as well. 1966 is wanted very much by us fans. Please give us what we want, we have all been loyal our entire lives to the IMS, it's time the IMS gives back to us fans, and gives us what we want. All the races from 1952 - 1979.

It's been more than two months since we've seen a new race offered for download. When will the next one be made available?

These are great! Thanks so much for releasing these. I'm hoping for some of the older races from the 1950s as well.

I've now downloaded two broadcasts, 1964 and 1968, and both seem to have disappeared from my hard drive within 24 hours of the downloads. Can anybody help me figure out where they went and how to get them back?

A thanks to those individuals who did the work to restore these and make them available to the public. It's been great to re-live some old memories and develop some new ones. I hope that new releases come available in 2010.

Great stuff, but the 1964 recording is out of order. Interview with Craig Breedlove is split into two places, about an hour apart.
  • I had asked for years for these to be made available; glad to see they finally are! Really enjoy the old races with Sid Collins. Next up, how about going back and releasing either full races on video from IMS film archives or complete versions of the ABC telecasts or closed-circuit broadcasts?
  • Thanks for releasing these radio broadcasts. Please release more races from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's. These broadcasts are fantastic!! It brings back such great memories. Thanks again for such great work. I'll be looking forward to more future releases.

We have had several changes across the company which are positive changes for the organization. We are ecstatic that you the fans have been downloading the past radio broadcasts. Credit goes out to Wally Leavitt (GM for the IMS Radio Network) and his staff's efforts. Look for more great content in the future. Thank you, IMS NEW MEDIA

I confirmed that the staff who put this together was let go. Sounds like the family feud is in full swing there and we the fans will be the losers.

To IMS: Is the preceding comment true? Can you advise whether we'll see additional downloads available of Indy 500 radio broadcasts?

I just heard that the guys who put this together were all let go. I am going to guess this will come to an end. Thanks to the old staff who did this for us.
  • Fantastic downloads

I would like to echo the comments by Kevin Sablay. If you again use a four-year interval of races available, I like the races he mentioned. I'd only disagree that we want to go back earlier than 1961. Start with 1953, then 1957, then 1961...and so on. Keep up the great work. We're ready for the next race now!

These downloads are fantastic! I can clearly remember listening to these IMS broadcasts every May before the race was covered live on TV. It is great listening again to the voices of Sid Collins, Paul Page, Bob Jenkins and others. I hope to see you release more of these in the near future.

I would like to thank whomever is responsible for releasing these old Indy radio broadcasts on CD ! I have bought 1960, 64, 72, 76 and 2004 and am interested in several others. If they plan on releasing a a large group again of Indy's in four year intervals I would like to see 1961 ( Foyt's first win) 1965- first rear-engine win by Jim Clark, 1969- Mario's win, 1973- accident marred but a lot happened, 1977- Foyt's 4th win, 1981 Bobby and Mario, 1985 Sullivan spin and win, 1989 Emmo and Little Al, 1993 Mansell, Emmo and Luyendyk, 1997 Arie's second, 2001 Helio's first win, 2005- Danica almost pulls off the win of the century and 2009- Helio's 3rd . Whew !! I transferrred the donwloads to CD and listen to them in my car driving to work- thanks a million !!- Kevin from Wisconsin

Many Many Thanks for IMS in releasing these races; I listened to these races when I was a kid, before the race was live; I would listen to the radio, go outside and act the race out on my bike, and watch Jim McKay at 9:00pm; I agree, please make all of the races available, especially 1952! P.S. Ask ABC to do the same for the races on TV, especially 1975!

Many thanks in behalf of all the Indy out here. PLEASE release all the races from the 50's and 60's, even if they are only in Readers Digest form. Once again, thank you very much. Spike Gillespie, Bloomsburg Pa.

These downloads are fantastic. It's great to hear Sid Collins and the earlier broadcasts...as well as the sweet whine of the turbocharged engines from the early 90s. I look forward to more years becoming available.
