Josef Newgarden in the No. 21 Preferred Freezer Chevrolet for Ed Carpenter Racing, was second at 232.344 mph. James Hinchcliffe was third at 231.972 in the No. 5 Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda, with Carlos Munoz fourth at 231.952 in the No. 26 United Fiber & Data Honda for Andretti Autosport.

2016 Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis Race Highlights
The No. 22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet started on the pole, fell to third midway through the 82-lap feature then took the lead again on Lap 62 after a quick service on the fast Chevy allowed Pagenaud to surge to the front for good. He led a race-high 57 laps.

It edged the top lap set by defending pole and race winner Will Power in the morning session, 1:09.8943 (125.624 mph), in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet.
