Fans attending next weekend's Red Bull Indianapolis GP will get a special treat on Sunday morning, August 9. Two-time Superbike World Champion and current MotoAmerica TV personality Colin Edwards will lap the 16-turn, 2.591-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course aboard a special Yamaha YZR-M1 featuring yellow-and-black, 60th Anniversary livery. “Colin’s appearance at Indy is part of Yamaha’s ongoing celebration of the company’s six decades in the motorsports industry,” said Bob Starr, General Manager of Communications for Yamaha U.S. Motorsports Group. “The Texas Tornado will also attend a meet-and-greet appearance on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Yamaha display area at the Speedway. Rumor has it that Colin may be bringing along his T-shirt cannon, too!” “Colin Edwards was a fan favorite during his years riding in the Red Bull Indianapolis GP," IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. "Everyone will love seeing him back on the road course again, even if it's just for one lap. And, given the rich history of motorcycles at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it’s a nice match for ‘The Texas Tornado’ to help celebrate this milestone with Yamaha.” Yamaha's display area, located in the infield between turns nine and 10 of the road course, will have current Yamaha and Yamaha Racing apparel and merchandise, as well as limited-edition Yamaha 60th Anniversary yellow-and-black apparel, available for purchase.
