Westfield Powersports Announces Entitlement for Vendor Marketplace

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today that Indiana-based Westfield Powersports has entered into an agreement as the title sponsor of the Red Bull Indianapolis GP Vendor Marketplace during the seventh Red Bull Indianapolis GP at IMS August 8-10.

The Red Bull Indianapolis GP is the tenth round of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship, the most prestigious motorcycle road racing series in the world. This will be the seventh year that the stars of MotoGP have competed on the 16-turn 2.591-mile IMS road course that incorporates a portion of the Speedway’s famous 2.5-mile oval.

The Red Bull Indianapolis GP Vendor Marketplace is a popular display area for aftermarket products where motorcycle enthusiasts can see and purchase gear from top motorcycle equipment and accessory companies. The Vendor Marketplace will be open in the Gasoline Alley garages during the entire Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend, with participating companies including:

AirHawk Kawasaki Pro Pad

Fans can secure their purchases from the Vendor Marketplace to avoid carrying them around the track during the day at the free gear check location in the Marketplace until they're ready to leave the track. FedEx and UPS service also is available on-site so items purchased at the Marketplace can be shipped directly from IMS to customers' homes.

Headquartered in Westfield, Ind., a suburb located north of Indianapolis, Westfield Powersports has become one of Indiana's leading retailers of Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris & KTM Motorcycles, ATV's, Side by Sides, WaveRunners and scooters. The company carries a vast array of motorcycle parts, accessories, and apparel; plus it features a full service department.

"We're enamored to be given the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the diverse motorcycle culture that can only be found by combining the world’s greatest two-wheeled sport and venue," said Westfield Powersports General Manager Jesse Johnson.

Riders in all three MotoGP World Championship classes – MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 – will compete on the newly redesigned road course at the 2014 Red Bull Indianapolis GP at IMS, with Race Day set for Sunday, Aug. 10.

Also competing at IMS for the third consecutive year will be the highly competitive AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Racing Series with races August 9 and 10 featuring the thunderous roar of highly skilled riders competing on specially modified Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycles.

Remembering John Cooper
John Cooper, who died Wednesday at the age of 84, was a major player in the motorsports world, not just during his time from 1979-82 as the president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was the kind of man who knew not only the big sponsor developments of the day, but why Joe Smith missed Saturday night’s feature at the local dirt track.
