Hauler Parade to Kickoff Kroger Super Weekend July 24

The third annual Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard will begin with the fun and excitement of the sixth annual Hauler Parade on Thursday, July 24 on Main Street in Speedway, Ind.

The event will take place from 5-8 p.m. Admission is free.

A parade of more than 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series haulers – the colorful trucks carrying stock cars to and from races during the season – will arrive on Main Street starting at 6 p.m. Haulers will then park on Main Street between 10th and 15th Streets, giving fans an up-close look.

Legendary NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and 1999 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Dale Jarrett will be the grand marshal of the Hauler Parade. Jarrett started the famed IMS tradition of “kissing the bricks” following his win in the 1996 Brickyard 400.

Another featured guest will be retired Green Beret John Wayne Walding of Little Elm, Texas, the hero who received naming rights to the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com NASCAR Sprint cup race Sunday, July 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Walding will be incorporated into a series of VIP activities throughout the race weekend that also will honor America’s unsung heroes.

Also appearing at the Hauler Parade on Main Street in Speedway will be Miss Coors Light and Miss Sprint Cup.

Other activities include live music from country music artists Michael Ray; and Tim Dugger, who has performed at many NASCAR races at sites including Daytona, Talladega and Bristol. The event will feature an autograph session with IMSA drivers Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, and fans may also enjoy interactive displays from the Indiana Pacers, the Indiana Fever and the Indy Eleven.

NASCAR and IMSA show cars will be on display, and kids can have fun at the IMS Kids Club area, featuring a bounce house and face painter.

Dawson’s On Main restaurant and other local eateries will have food and beverages available for purchase throughout the event. A variety of food trucks also will be on hand at the Hauler Parade, including Big Ron’s, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Nacho Mama and The Big Cheeze.

Parking will be available on Speedway town streets west of Main and also at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s gravel Main Gate Parking Lot, located on the south side of 16th Street, east of the Speedway gas station.

Fans also can watch the haulers parade north on Main Street and east on 16th Street at 7:55 p.m., as they depart the Hauler Parade single-file and enter the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Hauler Parade will take place after a full day of TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice and qualifying at IMS.
