Alexander Rossi
Indy 500 Winner Rossi To Serve as Honorary Chair for Rev 2023 on May 6

Alexander Rossi, winner of the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2016, will serve as the honorary chair of Rev 2023 presented by Fifth Third Bank on Saturday, May 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Rev, Indiana University Health Foundation’s signature event, is marking its 10th year as the traditional opening event for the Month of May.

Rev 2023, which sold out in record time Dec. 1, will feature more than 70 chefs from some of Central Indiana’s best restaurants. More than 20 artists and entertainment acts will perform throughout the event. The evening ends with a dance party on the racetrack’s famed Yard of Bricks start-finish line as a DJ plays music from the flag stand above the track.

“From the first time I attended Rev back in 2016 as a rookie, I knew that it was a special event,” Rossi said. “Not only does it kick off the Month of May and the biggest sporting event in the world, but it features some of Indy’s best chefs and restaurants from the city who are all doing their part to help raise funds for IU Health’s trauma, injury prevention and critical care programs.

It is such an honor to be the 2023 Rev chairman. I look forward to doing what I can to help promote this spectacular evening at one of my favorite places in the world.”

Rev organizers announced Rossi’s role Wednesday at Just Pop In!, 6406 Cornell Ave. in Indianapolis. The restaurant and popcorn bar has participated in Rev since 2014. Saucy Rossi spicy cheddar popcorn, which was developed in honor of Rossi, was served to guests and media during the announcement. Sun King Brewery, which has also participated in Rev since its inaugural year in 2014, served its Pachanga Mexican Lager and Eels on Wheels Double IPA.

Rev 2023 is sold out, but anyone who still wants to purchase a ticket can join a waitlist at revindy.org/attend. About 3,500 are expected to attend Rev next May.

“Rev is always a wonderful evening in Indianapolis, but the celebration of our 10th year this year will be epic,” Rev Executive Director Carol Howard said. “To have Alex Rossi, the winner of the landmark 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, to help us honor a decade of Rev is perfect.”

Rev is IU Health Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. Since its beginning, Rev has raised more than $6 million for trauma, injury prevention and critical care programs. Proceeds have made it possible for expansions to the IU Health Lifeline fleet, enabling the Lifeline team to provide emergency care while transporting patients statewide. Event proceeds also benefit drivers and fans at the IU Health Emergency Medical Center at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is part of the IU Health Methodist Hospital Level I Trauma Program.
