March 13, 2018 | By Indy Women in Tech Championship
Volunteer Registration is now open for the Indy Women in Tech (IWiT) Championship, the official full-field LPGA event returning to the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this August 13-19, 2018. The event is seeking over 700 volunteers to fill roles on 16 different committees including Marshals, Standard Bearers, Transportation and Hospitality. While some committees require golf knowledge there are plenty of opportunities that require no golf knowledge or experience. Volunteers are encouraged to register early since committees and shift times are filled on a first come first serve basis. It is preferred that volunteers work three shifts in a single committee, but only two shifts are required. At the inaugural event in 2017, Lexi Thompson beat out Lydia Ko by four stokes to win the tournament, and became the first ever female to kiss the famous yard of bricks in victory. All proceeds raised through the IWiT Championship will directly benefit the Indy Women in Tech Foundation which supports and funds specific women and tech initiatives, particularly those focused on robotics, STEM days and career transitioning for these re-entering the workforce. The volunteer uniform fee is $55 and includes two official tournament golf shirts and one official tournament hat or visor. Additionally all volunteers will receive two complimentary weekly grounds passes, one volunteer badge, and meals and beverages during scheduled shifts. Volunteers may use their volunteer badge for admission to the event when they are not scheduled to work. For more information and to register for the volunteer program please visit IWiTCHAMP.com.
