IMS to host Hauler Hustle 4K at the Brickyard on July 26

INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, July 9, 2012 – Following an exciting day of NASCAR Nationwide Series practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, runners and walkers will take to the track for the inaugural Hauler Hustle 4K at the Brickyard on Thursday, July 26.

The Hauler Hustle 4K at the Brickyard starts at 6:30 p.m., and the 2.5-mile course will use portions of the famed IMS oval and road circuit, which will host four different racing series July 26-29 during the inaugural Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard. The run/walk will feature age-group awards, random drawings for Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard tickets and a festival before and after the event offering food and beverages.

Registration is $20, and packet pickup will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at BlueMile Broad Ripple at 1079 Broad Ripple Ave., in Indianapolis. Late registration will be $25 and will begin July 25. Late registration and packet pickup on Race Day will take place in the lobby of the IMS Administration Building beginning at 5 p.m.

The Hauler Hustle 4K at the Brickyard is part of an expanded schedule of fan activities July 26 that includes the fourth annual Hauler Parade, featuring more than 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team haulers parked on Main Street between 10th and 15th streets in Speedway, Ind., starting at 6 p.m.

Admission is free to the Hauler Parade, which also includes a media pit stop contest, live music, a Kids Zone, and food specials and extended hours provided by Main Street vendors. The top finishers from the Hauler Hustle 4K at the Brickyard also will receive their awards at 7:45 p.m. at the Hauler Parade stage on Main Street.

IMS will be the epicenter of American stock car racing and North American sports car racing July 26-29 as the NASCAR Nationwide Series and GRAND-AM Road Racing will join the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for four exciting races during the inaugural Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard.

It will be the first time in IMS history that races will take place on the 2.5-mile oval and 2.534-mile Grand Prix road course during the same weekend, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series and GRAND-AM Road Racing will make their IMS debuts. The weekend will culminate on Sunday, July 29 with the running of the 19th annual Crown Royal Presents the “Your Hero’s Name Here” 400 at the Brickyard powered by BigMachineRecords.com.
