Indianapolis will be the epicenter of the sports world when the Super Bowl comes to town for the first time Sunday, Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium. But Indy has been known worldwide for auto racing for more than a century, especially the Indianapolis 500. So it’s only fitting that “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” will take center stage in an exciting promotion during early January and Super Bowl week that fuses the exciting worlds of the NFL and IZOD IndyCar Series. The Super Cars program will feature 33 Dallara IZOD IndyCar Series chassis – the same number as the traditional starting field for the Indianapolis 500 – on display in Indianapolis leading into the big game. Thirty-two of the cars each will feature the logo of a different NFL team, covering the entire league, while the 33rd car will feature logos of Super Bowl XLVI. Cars will be displayed Jan. 4-6 in the heart of downtown Indianapolis to stoke even more fan passion for the game. The Super Cars then will be relocated to Super Celebration Sites and other unique Indianapolis-area destinations during Super Bowl weekend, Feb. 2-5. In a cool element of the program, the final NFL standings will determine the locations of the Super Cars. Fans are encouraged to check www.indianapolissuperbowl.com for locations and more details during game week. There are other interactive elements, too. Fans can use the Super Bowl XLVI mobile app and FourSquare to check in at Super Car locations to unlock prizes and rewards. For more information, visit www.indianapolissuperbowl.com/super-cars.
