Tickets Available Now For Celebration Of Automobiles Dinner May 14

Tickets are available for the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 Celebration of Automobiles Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 14 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Pavilion.

The dinner will serve as the climax of the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 Celebration of Automobiles, which features two broad classifications of automobiles manufactured between 1911 and 1961 – the first 50 years of the Indianapolis 500.

Highlights of the awards dinner include:

•A VIP Tour of the new exhibition at the IMS Hall of Fame Museum featuring 67 winning cars representing 71 Indianapolis 500 victories. The Museum will remain open until 7 p.m., with the dinner at 7:10 p.m.

•A welcome from IMSC President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Belskus

•A program featuring IMS Historian Donald Davidson and select Indianapolis 500 winners

During the elegant dinner, a team of judges headed by 1963 Indianapolis 500 winner Parnelli Jones will reveal its choices for best of show in several categories. Several exquisite trophies will be presented to owners followed by entertainment, including the program with Davidson and Indianapolis 500 legends.

The 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 Celebration of Automobiles is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and much more than a car show. It is a tribute to America’s greatest racing event and a fitting kick-off to a month long celebration of “The Most Important Race in History,” scheduled for Sunday, May 29.

Nearly 250 contestants were selected for the Celebration of Automobiles May 13-14 at IMS. Many of the machines are award winners in Concours d’ Elegance competition at such revered venues as Pebble Beach. The cars are divided into two divisions, one a general collection of cars from 1911-61, and the other will present for the first time anywhere classic cars produced by the 24 manufacturers that competed in the first Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 1911.

Children 12 and under will be receive free general admission to any IMS event in 2011 when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket holder.
