Acclaimed Artist Dazelle Creates Cover For Brickyard 400 Program

Internationally acclaimed French artist Erwin Dazelle was named by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the 2010 Brickyard 400 Official Program Artist.

Dazelle’s program cover for the 2010 Brickyard 400, set for July 23-25, depicts Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 and Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Chevrolets, two of the most decorated Brickyard 400 drivers and two of the most recognized NASCAR Sprint Cup race cars of the decade, as well as an iconic image of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway featuring the Yard of Bricks and the Pagoda.

“We’re very excited to feature Erwin Dazelle’s work on the cover of the 2010 Brickyard 400 Official Program,” said Dawn DeBellis, Indianapolis Motor Speedway director of Creative Services. “Erwin has a unique style that adds a fresh perspective to the imagery of the race.”

Dazelle, 35, from Bayonne, France, is one of the top artists in the southwest of France and the Basque country. Dazelle is a multi-talented artist who has mastered stained glass, clay and plaster modeling as well as painting. He began painting professionally in 1996 and after exhibitions in Paris, Nice and Bayonne in France, Sevilla and Bilbao in Spain and San Diego and Paso Robles, Calif., Dazelle is aiming for a successful international career.

“I am very proud to have been selected to design this 2010 Brickyard 400 program cover especially that we are in the Centennial Era of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway” Dazelle said. “The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Creative Services department liked what I did for the Rolex 24 At Daytona program this year, and they let me come up with exciting artwork for the Brickyard 400 program. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is the most popular racing series in the nation and being able to showcase my work during the 2010 Brickyard 400 and interact with the NASCAR racing community and the fans is a true honor for me.”

Dazelle will attend the 2010 Brickyard 400 and will be on hand to meet the fans at the track throughout the weekend. A giclee of the original program cover artwork will be donated by the artist to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Foundation, Inc. and it will be displayed permanently at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.
