Indy 500 Veteran Karam To Make NASCAR Debut in Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard

Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge veteran Sage Karam will add another series to his diverse racing resume when he makes his NASCAR debut Saturday, Aug. 14 in the Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard NASCAR Xfinity Series race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

Karam, 26, from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, will drive Jordan Anderson Racing’s No. 31 Chevrolet on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile circuit, with sponsorship from Pennsylvania all-season attraction Montage Mountain Resorts. It will be his second time racing this season at IMS, as he finished a “500” career-best seventh May 30 in the Indy 500 on the IMS oval while driving for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

“It has always been a dream of mine to be able to compete at this level with some of the world’s best stock car drivers,” Karam said. “My goal is to learn as much as possible and soak in this experience. It’s a welcomed challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships with the talented people of Jordan Anderson Racing.”

Since winning the 2013 Indy Lights championship, Karam has raced in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the American Rallycross Championship.

“Our entire team is incredibly proud to add Sage Karam to our list of talented drivers that have driven the No. 31 Chevrolet this year,” team president Jordan Anderson said. “With Sage's extensive experience in road racing and open-wheel racing, along with finishing seventh in this year's Indianapolis 500, we knew that the road course at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be a special place for him to make his NASCAR debut.

“To bridge the gap between two different fields of racing is a challenge that I’m confident Sage will be able to master.”

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES also will race Saturday, Aug. 14 on the IMS road course in the Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix. The NASCAR Cup Series will compete on the IMS road course for the first time Sunday, Aug. 15 in the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.
