In celebration of the 100 Days Countdown to the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, two-time race champion Takuma Sato will participate in a special streaming show Friday, Feb. 19 to unveil his likeness on the Borg-Warner Trophy, commemorating his 2020 win.
NTT INDYCAR SERIES fans are encouraged to watch the “Borg-Warner Trophy Special” via IMS.com/100Days at 1 p.m. (ET) Friday.
Sato will join Rahal Letterman Lanigan team owners Bobby Rahal and Mike Lanigan, along with Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles and BorgWarner Global Director of Marketing and Public Relations Michelle Collins, for an unveil showcase streamed from the IMS Museum.
Another highlight of the streaming show will be a video from a very special guest with deep INDYCAR ties.
The Borg-Warner Trophy is one of the most iconic awards in history. Commissioned in 1935 and presented to then-IMS owner Eddie Rickenbacker in 1936, a spot the Borg-Warner Trophy has been coveted by Indianapolis 500 drivers ever since.
This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Borg-Warner Trophy. Sato’s likeness will be the 107th added to the iconic trophy.
The 105th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is scheduled for Sunday, May 30.
