2013 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2004 IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan and his wife, Lauren, will serve as the honorary chairs for Rev presented by Fifth Third Bank on Saturday, May 4, on the grounds of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Kanaans were announced as the honorary chairs for Rev 2019 at a celebration Dec. 6 at Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in Indianapolis. “I love everything about the ‘500,’ and being named honorary co-chair with my wife, Lauren, for the 2019 Rev adds an extra touch to it,” Tony Kanaan said. “In just a few years of existence, Rev has become one of the most prestigious events of the Month of May, and I’m honored to be part of it. It’s all about putting good people, good food and good entertainment together – how can you go wrong with it?” Rev, an annual celebration that kicks off the month of May at IMS, brings approximately 3,000 revelers to the track one week before the INDYCAR Grand Prix and three weeks before the famed Indianapolis 500. The event involves more than 60 of Indianapolis’ best restaurants, all offering bites from their menu items, and 20 entertainment acts, including a DJ in the iconic IMS flag stand who turns the racetrack’s start/finish line into a dance floor. “I’m thrilled to be named one of this year’s honorary co-chairs for Rev along with Tony,” said Lauren Kanaan. “Rev has become the unofficial kickoff event to the month of May for us, and we enjoy it every year. Bringing some of our favorite things – food, friends and the Indy 500 – together to celebrate is a guaranteed good time, and we cannot wait to help showcase what the 2019 Rev has in store.” Rev is Indiana University Health’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds from the last five events have raised more than $2.5 million. These funds have been invested in both injury prevention and critical-care programs. A new mobile intensive care unit (MICU) ambulance has been added to the IU Health LifeLine fleet, enabling that team to provide emergency care while transporting infants and adults. Event proceeds also benefit race car drivers and fans at the IU Health Emergency Medical Center at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is part of the IU Health Methodist Hospital Level I Trauma Program. While VIP tickets to Rev 2019 are sold out, general admission tickets are $300 per person, and can be purchased at revindy.org.
