Fans and car owners from across North America will celebrate the unique culture of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette this week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as Bloomington Gold Corvettes – the longest-running all-Corvette show in the United States – roars at the track from Thursday, June 21 through Saturday, June 23. This is the fourth consecutive year that Bloomington Gold has taken place at the Racing Capital of the World. The popular event has evolved from a car show to a car event at IMS, complete with driving experiences for attendees. Bloomington Gold is open to the public from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. all three days. Tickets are $25 per person per day, with three-day passes available for $60. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder. Parking is included with all tickets. Visit IMS.com to buy tickets or for more information. The event is filled with Corvette displays, judging and authentication of Corvettes to earn the prestigious Bloomington Gold Certification, education sessions and vendors. There also are two special events to attract Corvette enthusiasts this year at Bloomington Gold. The new 2019 Corvette ZR1 will be the model driven by professionals from the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School during the GoldSpeed event, in which attendees can ride in this incredible new supercar at speed on part of the IMS road course for free on a first-come, first-served basis after a Chevrolet Ride & Drive Test Drive. Bloomington Gold is the only Corvette event this year in which fans can take high-speed rides in a ZR1. Fans also can enjoy a display of more than 50 L88 Corvettes this year at IMS during Bloomington Gold, the largest-ever collection of this prestigious model produced from 1967-69. Many of the vehicles on display in the L88 EXPLOSION! are valued at more than $1 million each, and some never have been seen at a show. L88 is an option package created by the late Zora Arkus-Duntov, Corvette's famous chief engineer, for Chevrolet dealers to offer their special customers. The L88-equipped Corvette won local competitions and was competitive at national events such as the Sebring 12-Hour and Daytona 24-Hour endurance races. Only 216 of these rare cars were built from 1967-69. The mystique and legend of the L88 will be celebrated through a reception Thursday, a walk-around of the cars Friday and a panel discussion Saturday. The final salute to this iconic model will feature these powerful cars thundering around the IMS road course for two high-speed laps Saturday.
