WOW, to think THAT was the Speedway back then. I have seen "The Big Wheel" with Mickey Rooney of (basically) the 1949 Indy 500, but here there are hardly any stands/seating.

I would love to have a whole DVD full of these old news reels.
I'll bet when they paved the track that some old-timer's were upset over how the dust from the bricks would no longer fly during the start and a "tradition" had been lost.
