Jeff led the 2004 Brickyard 400 for a total of 124 of 161 laps giving him, his 69th Career NASCAR victory.
A piece of debris was hit by 1st place Gordon and 2nd Kenseth bringing out the Caution. there was visible damage to both cars but kenseths car had more damage so he would pit religating him to a 16th place finish Gordon on the other hand risked the race by staying out. In over drive (green, white, checkered finish) Jeff Checked out in the 2 lap shoot out to give him, his 69th career NASCAR victory and his 4th victory in the Brickyard 400
