"and #5 BILLY ARNOLD is Still our Race Leader, There he goes...."

This might have been early in the race when there was nothing to say or do, excprt watch as front row starter BILLY ARONLD was running away with the race for the 3rd year in a row....
In 1930 ARNOLD set the record that still stands
leading 198 of the 200 laps to WIn it....
It was an Instant Replay in the '31 Indy 500 with better than a lap lead and with less than 50 laps to go his axle snapped....
It was no surprise when Arnold took the lead on the 2nd lap of the 1932 and set sail again.....this year he lasted til just round laps,59 or so before he dnf.....then these guys in the Pagoda had to get pretty busy as the lead changed hands several times between Lap 60 and lap 152....whenn leder Wilbur dropped out and from then on it was all Fred Frame and these guys could petty much relax again!
