Tony Stewart qualified second for the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie in 1996 but started from the pole after the tragic death of his teammate Scott Brayton in a practice accident.

    Team Menard, How close did they ever get anyway?

    Oh the Menard Team and their many front row starts,
    And even here they couldn't make up their mind for a yellow car
    or a green one! More important they couldn't seem to
    make an engine last for 500 miles, you might ask Robbie Gordon
    one more time about how Team Menard radioed to him that had "all the fuel he needed" to make to the finish of 1999 Indy 500!
