Fans, Visitors Should See Incredible Foyt Exhibit at IMS Museum by Nov. 12

Time is running out for fans and visitors to view a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit honoring auto racing icon A.J. Foyt at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

A.J. Foyt: A Legendary Exhibition, presented by ABC Supply, will conclude its wildly popular run Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Museum. The exhibit, which opened in the spring before the 101st Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Foyt’s record-setting fourth “500” victory in 1977.

A wide variety of displays trace superstar Foyt’s rise from the dirt tracks of Texas to the pinnacle of auto racing history.

Nearly three dozen cars that Foyt drove in competition are on display, including all four of his Indianapolis 500-winning machines, the 1961 Bowes Seal Fast Special, the 1964 and 1967 Sheraton-Thompson Specials and the 1977 Gilmore Coyote.

In addition to several of Foyt’s Indy cars, many incredible machines representing Foyt’s career in NASCAR, USAC and road racing are on display, many for the first time. Visitors also can see rare memorabilia from Foyt’s personal collection.

A.J. Foyt: A Legendary Exhibition is presented by ABC Supply, with additional support from Chevrolet and Al-Fe Heat Treating.

The IMS Museum is located in the infield of the world-famous oval, between Turns 1 and 2. It is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET) daily from March through October and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily from November through February, closing only on Thanksgiving Day on Christmas Day. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6-15 and free for children under 6.

IMS Contributing $10,000 To Red Cross Relief Efforts In Haiti
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is contributing $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist its relief efforts for Haitian earthquake victims. Motorsports fans also can contribute to the American Red Cross in many ways, including a continuing online auction at the IMS eBay site and a Brickyard Authentics retail store price reduction. Among the new items added to the auction is a VIP ticket package to the 2010 Indianapolis 500.

American Motorsports Media Name Franchitti Driver Of The Year
Dario Franchitti received more recognition for his 2009 IZOD IndyCar Series championship Jan. 16 by being named the recipient of the Jerry Titus Award during the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association's All-America Team dinner in Brownsburg, Ind. The Titus award, given in remembrance of the late racer/journalist, signifies the top vote-getter among All-America Team members as the driver of the year. Franchitti also won the award following his 2007 series championship and Indianapolis 500 victory.

IMS Teaming With American Red Cross For Haitian Earthquake Relief
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is teaming with the American Red Cross through an online auction and Brickyard Authentics retail store price reduction to encourage race fans to contribute to relief efforts for Haitian earthquake victims. Autographed items are being auctioned on eBay, and anyone who donates $5 or more to the Red Cross at the two Brickyard Authentics retail outlets will receive a 20 percent savings on their purchase.

Indy Winner Castroneves Makes Room For Third 'Baby Borg' Trophy
Reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves (above right) accepted his third BorgWarner Championship Driver's Trophy - affectionately known as the "Baby Borg" - from BorgWarner chairman and CEO Tim Manganello (above center) during a ceremony Jan. 13 as part of the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit. Team owner Roger Penske also received a "Baby Borg." Castroneves will aim for his fourth Indianapolis 500 victory on May 30 at IMS.
