Red Bull Air Race World Championship Fans Encouraged To Plan Ahead at IMS.com

Fans attending the second annual Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Oct. 14-15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are encouraged to “Plan Your Visit” through an interactive web page that serves as a home base for those headed to the track during this exciting race weekend.

The “Plan Your Visit” page – IMS.com/planyourvisit/red-bull-air-race – features detailed information about the entire fan experience during the Red Bull Air Race event weekend at IMS, including directions, parking, camping, facility map, racecourse map, event schedule, gate regulations, tickets, fan activities, ADA accessibility and much more.

Go North: Special Directions for Red Bull Air Race

Gate 2 (IMS Museum/tunnel entrance) is not an entry point for ticket holders for the Red Bull Air Race. Fans are instead encouraged to use Gates 9 and 10 on the north end of IMS, as these gates provide the quickest access to the Fan Midway and grandstands.

To beat the traffic and expedite your travel to the Speedway, remember to leave early and plan your route beforehand using the most up-to-date traffic information. To encourage early arrival, free parking will be provided in Lot 1B from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15.

Please note that ongoing construction along 30th Street will impact Race Weekend travel. It is still best to plan your travel to IMS using routes that approach IMS from the north side of the venue.

Westbound 30th Street (from Lafayette Road)
On Sunday (Race Day ONLY), westbound traffic on 30th Street should use the left lane for North 40 (Gate 10/11) parking and the right lane for other parking options (Lots 1A/1B). Police officers will be assigned along 30th Street beginning at 9:30 a.m. to ensure drivers arrive safely. Please follow all instructions of the officers.

Eastbound 30th Street (from Georgetown Road)
At the intersection of 30th Street and Georgetown Road, vehicles will be allowed eastbound from Georgetown Road to enter Gate 10. Only those vehicles entering Gate 10 will be allowed east of Georgetown Road.

Fans wishing to smoke will be asked to do so 20 feet away from buildings and seating entrances. Smoking will continue to be allowed in the IMS infield. Signage will be visible around the IMS grandstands to remind fans about this policy.

Red Bull Air Race Street Parking Restrictions

To increase the safety and security of race patrons, the Speedway Police Department will restrict parking in selected areas around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Town of Speedway during the Red Bull Air Race weekend Oct. 14-15.
