Hinchcliffe Named Honorary Chairman of Rev 2016

Verizon IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe will serve as the honorary chairman of Rev 2016.

Rev, presented by Fifth Third Bank, is the marquee fundraising event for Methodist Health Foundation. The event is May 7, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hinchcliffe, who will enter his second season driving for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, was the 2012 Verizon IndyCar Series Fan Favorite award winner.

“It really is a thrill for me to be partnering with Rev this year,” said Hinchcliffe, who has four Verizon IndyCar Series victories. “I can’t believe how it has grown into a must-attend event in just two years.

“Obviously, the cause is one that's close to all drivers but especially for me after the year I had. We look forward to growing the event even bigger and better.”

Following an on-track incident May 18, on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, Hinchcliffe was rushed by ground to Methodist Hospital, where he underwent same-day surgery for his injuries. Early recovery and recuperation also was spent at the hospital in downtown Indianapolis.

The evening is filled with entertainment, music and driver-inspired cuisine prepared by celebrity and local chefs. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1.

“Rev has become the must attend party in town,” Indianapolis Motor Speedway president J. Douglas Boles said. “This is a perfect kick off to the Month of May, especially as we build excitement for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. This signature event will provide an excellent opportunity to welcome James and his fellow drivers back to IMS ahead of such a monumental moment in racing history.”

Through a partnership between Methodist Health Foundation, IMS and INDYCAR, Rev has become the largest fundraiser supporting Indiana University Health statewide trauma programs. Last year, the event drew in more than 2,500 guests and raised nearly $400,000.
