Edwards, who was also the polesitter last week at New Hampshire in his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, will make his second front-row start at the Brickyard. He started second in 2012. His best finish at the Brickyard was a runner-up in 2008.

Joining Edwards on the front row is Joey Logano, driving the No. 22 Ford for Penske Racing. He will try to become the fourth driver to win the Daytona 500 and Crown Royal 400 at the Brickyard in the same year.

Hoosier native Tony Stewart, a two-time Brickyard winner, was first in the first round of the two-round qualifying session and landed in the fourth spot after the second round in the No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet. It’s his third top-5 start at the Brickyard.

Defending champion Jeff Gordon failed to advance to the second round of qualifying. The five-time Brickyard champion will start 19th in the No. 24 3M Chevrolet.
