Montoya, who started 15th, also won “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” as a rookie in 2000, setting a record for longest period of time between two “500” wins. It is also the record-extending 16th Indianapolis 500 win for team owner Roger Penske.

Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power – who won the second annual Angie’s List Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course earlier this month -- finished second in his No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet. Charlie Kimball, who started 14th in his No. 83 Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, finished third. Pole sitter Scott Dixon, the 2008 Indianapolis 500 champion, led a race-high 84 laps but finished fourth.
