Jeff Gordon
NASCAR Teams Slated to Test at IMS on Wednesday, April 29

As a prelude to the 22nd annual Crown Royal presents the “Your Hero’s Name Here” 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday, July 26, 2015, 13 NASCAR Sprint Cup teams are scheduled to test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Wednesday, April 29.

Drivers expected to participate include defending race winner Jeff Gordon and reigning Sprint Cup Series champion and 2003 Brickyard 400 winner Kevin Harvick. Additional drivers who are scheduled to test on the famed IMS 2.5-mile oval include Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Carl Edwards, Sam Hornish Jr., Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson, Casey Mears, Paul Menard, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Martin Truex Jr. and JJ Yeley.

The test will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and is open to the public at the south terrace grandstands and Turn 2 viewing mounds. Refreshments will be available at the Pit Stop Café next to the IMS Hall of Fame Museum featuring Rex Coffee, cappuccino, espresso, breakfast sandwiches, Indy Dogs, burgers and more.

History was made last year when Gordon -- from nearby Pittsboro, Indiana -- won the race for the fifth time (1994, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2014) in his career, tying all-time great Michael Schumacher for the most all-time wins in major races in IMS history. Schumacher won the Formula One United States Grand Prix five times, in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Past winners of the Brickyard 400 at IMS include a veritable who’s who of the sport including Dale Earnhardt (1995), Tony Stewart (2005, 2007), Dale Jarrett (1996, 1999) and four-time winner Jimmie Johnson (2006, 2008, 2009, 2012).

The 2015 Crown Royal 400 at the Brickyard weekend (July 24-26) will include drivers in the NASCAR XFINITY Series racing for the checkered flag in the fourth annual Lilly Diabetes 250 on Saturday, July 25, where Ty Dillon will look to defend his 2014 title.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series is where names are made and is like nothing else in major pro sports featuring the most talented young stock car drivers regularly competing side-by-side against NASCAR's biggest and brightest stars. Past winners of the Lilly Diabetes 250 include NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standouts Brad Keselowski (2012) and Kyle Busch (2013).
