Busch knows his way around the Brickyard in the Nationwide Series. He has started on the front row in all three years of the Lilly Diabetes 250, and won last year’s race from the pole. This is his 40th career pole in the Nationwide Series and his series-leading fourth this season.

Under NASCAR’s new qualifying format, all cars qualify together and the field is pared down over three rounds. In the final five-minute round, featuring 12 cars, Kyle Busch began his lap just before the session ended and topped his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Matt Kenseth.

The Lilly Diabetes 250 will get underway at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
