IMS To Host 2014 ISC Corporate Challenge
IMS To Host 2014 ISC Corporate Challenge

The 2014 Indiana Sports Corp Corporate Challenge presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will move to one of Indiana’s most iconic locations, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A record 133 central Indiana businesses and more than 6,500 participants took part in the 2013 event. It was the second consecutive year that the event sold out.

The ISC Corporate Challenge is a fun-filled community event that emphasizes healthy lifestyles, friendly competition and company camaraderie. Taking place Saturday, September 20 and September 27, this two day-competition offers a little something for each member of the company: distance runs, sprints, a fitness walk, tug-of-war, and field activities (called “Good Sport Events”) such as basketball shootout, football accuracy throw, golf chipping challenge and soccer shootout, to name a few. On Saturday, September 20, a 6-mile cycling time trial, bowling challenge, and cornhole and sand volleyball tournaments will take place at several locations throughout the city. More than 130 companies will come together to compete in most of the events on Saturday, September 27 at IMS.

“The Corporate Challenge has grown to become a fixture on the calendars of many central Indiana companies,” said Allison Melangton, Indiana Sports Corp president. “That growth has provided us with the opportunity to pair Indiana’s premier corporate wellness event with Indiana’s premier outdoor sporting venue. Our participants will have the unique experience of competing in an iconic space that has been home to more than a century of great performances.”

Each participating company is placed in one of four divisions based on their company size (total number of employees in Indiana). Each company also competes in one of 10 Industry Challenges. Companies also compete in “Compassion Events,” providing donations for several great causes, including the Indiana Sport Corp Susan Williams CHAMPS Grant Program and Geared For Health: Sports Equipment for Kids, as well as the Indiana Blood Center.

"Indianapolis is well known for racing, its sporting events, and its strong corporate community," said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. "We are looking forward to celebrating all three of these when the Indiana Sports Corp hosts its annual Corporate Challenge and central Indiana’s most important businesses for a friendly competition at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the world's largest spectator sporting facility. It plays host annually to four events in three major racing series: Grand Prix of Indianapolis, Indianapolis 500 Mile Race (Verizon IndyCar Series), Brickyard 400 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) and Red Bull Indianapolis GP (MotoGP World Championship). The Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 take place on the 2.5-mile oval, while the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and Red Bull Indianapolis GP are contested on different configurations of the IMS road course.
