The Indy Racing Experience today unveiled its year-round Victory Laps program, offering fans the opportunity to ride around the legendary 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in their choice of a two-seat Indy car, stock car or Chevrolet Impala event car. Fans age 9 and older may participate in the program that began today at IMS. The top speed for all Victory Lap rides is 60 mph, and reservations are not required. “I think it’s a great opportunity for our fans when they come and see the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, and then they have the opportunity to walk out and hop into an Indy car and ride in the back and see the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from the driver’s eye-view,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “It’s a little bit different from the bus view (IMS Tour Buses), which is a little higher up and a little more relaxed, and you kind of get to really be a spectator and a sightseer, but inside the Indy Racing Experience two-seater you’re going to get a feel of what it’s like to be sitting on the ground and see it from a race driver’s view. It’s something that’s brand new, and we’re excited that our fans will get to see it from a race driver’s viewpoint. “The other great opportunity is the fact that we’re going to allow kids age 9 and above to get a chance to get on the racetrack, which is really brand new. As we’re trying to develop that next generation of INDYCAR fans, this is a great way for them to connect with the brand and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway better.” Other than sanctioned track activity and inclement weather, Victory Laps will be available daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $60 for each two-seater ride and for as many as three people for a ride around the track in an Impala event car. “The Indy Racing Experience has been operating at IMS for 13 years and we are excited to offer an accessible and affordable family racing experience,” said Scott Jasek, co-owner, Indy Racing Experience. “Participants starting at 9 years old can circle the famous track and create memories for all.” The Indy Racing Experience’s Victory Laps program will be permanently housed at IMS, providing fans the exhilarating experience of taking on the daunting corners and thrilling straightaways of the Racing Capital of the World. Participating fans may sign up for the program at the Indy Racing Experience trailer located in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum parking lot. All Indy Racing Experience Victory Lap participants will enter IMS via the Gate 2, 16th Street entrance, and park in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum parking lot.
