Celebrate IMS Centennial Era With 2009 'Grounds Tour'
At a venue where history has been made for a century, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Hall of Fame Museum will in 2009 set a record for the most behind-the-scenes Grounds Tours in a season. The Museum's popular Grounds Tour, which provides a great opportunity to entertain family, friends or clients with a 90-minute tour rich in IMS history and landmarks, will take place on a record 68 days in 2009. IMS Unveils Centennial Era-Themed Event Logos For 2009 Season
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway recently unveiled the logos for all three motor racing events in 2009 at the legendary Brickyard, the 93rd Indianapolis 500, 16th Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and second Red Bull Indianapolis GP. All three event logos share a similar design element in the bottom section, incorporating the words "Centennial Era" in reference to IMS' celebration of the 100th anniversary of the facility in 2009.

George Pleased With Pace, Progress Of Reunification In 2008
Less than 10 months ago, Indy Racing League Founder and CEO Tony George seized an opportunity to unify North American open-wheel racing after a contentious and costly decade. IMS Announces 2009 Centennial Gala Presenting Sponsors
Four companies woven deeply into the fabric of the central Indiana community will serve as presenting sponsors for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Centennial Gala: Just Marketing International, Old National Bank, the Indiana Pacers and Honda. Stewart's Foundation Awards $20,000 To Indiana Racehorse Charity
The charitable organization of two-time Allstate 400 at the Brickyard winner Tony Stewart has awarded a $20,000 grant to Indianapolis-based Friends of Ferdinand, Inc. (FFI), a not-for-profit volunteer organization that works with owners and trainers at the state's two horse tracks to identify and obtain thoroughbreds that are nearing the end of their racing careers.

The Racetrack Of Champions: 2008 IMS Winners Sweep Season Titles
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway further cemented its reputation as a racetrack of champions when Jimmie Johnson clinched his third consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title Nov. 16, as all three winners of major events in 2008 at the Speedway - Scott Dixon, Johnson and Valentino Rossi - also captured their respective series crowns this year. It's the first time this feat has occurred since IMS began to play host to three annual races in 2000.

A new era in the career of 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden began Oct. 27 with testing at the 2.489-mile Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain. A day after the final race of his longtime association with Honda, Hayden, of Owensboro, Ky., turned 79 laps for his new team, Ducati Marlboro Team, with most of the laps on a new Ducati GP9 featuring a striking "Stars and Stripes" livery and carrying a small decal that said, "Chapter 2." |

While the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway belongs to the "yellow shirts" - the highly visible members of the IMS Safety Patrol, the month of October belongs to the blue jackets. With more than 50,000 blue jacket-clad youth in Indianapolis on Oct. 22-25 for the National FFA Organization convention, thousands of them made their way to the world's most famous racetrack.
